super special – junior bar early – under 7 years call

  • Limited to the first 50 Junior Bar delegates to register for the conference.
  • Inclusions are the same as a full – two-day access conference registration

junior bar – under 7 years call

  • The Junior Bar is regarded as those who have been at the Bar for less than 7 years.

bar – over 7 years call

  • The Bar is regarded as those who have been at the Bar for more than 7 years.


Discounts are available for members of the Junior Bar who bring a member of In-house Counsel as their companion registration. Registrations may be submitted separately however the name of the accompanying junior bar member / in-house counsel must be entered at the time of registration. All details will be verified and if changes are made to the booking, the modified details will again be verified and the appropriate registration fees charged should the registration type no longer be valid. Registrations will be reviewed at the end of each registration period.

Clerk REGISTRATION includes:

Clerk registrations are being offered free of charge as an incentive to Clerks who manage their Chambers registrations. Bookings must be for nine two-day access registrations to qualify for the free registration. Super Special Junior Early registrations cannot count towards to the nine registrations. Registrations must be made via the online registration form and can be a combination of early and general registrations.

two-day conference – organisation registration

An organisation registration is being offered to allow an organisation to share a registration with a number of staff members. Badges will be printed with the organisation name only. Organisations must take responsibility for managing the Conference badge as only one badge will be printed per each organisation registration and the Organisers are unable to issue replacements. Only one delegate may be in attendance at any one time. Registrations must be made via the online registration form. Organisation registrations include all conference sessions, including morning and afternoon tea breaks and conference lunches, as per the agenda on Friday 16 November & Saturday 17 November and one set of conference materials and merchandise. The organisation registration is only available for the two-day registration.

networking & social event REGISTRATION

Registrations to the networking and social events are available to purchase individually (no conference registration), to supplement your one-day conference registration or purchase additional tickets for partners, colleagues or friends to join you at the events.

Welcome reception – Thursday 15 November 2018 PIER ONE SYDNEY HARBOUR

Pier One Sydney Harbour is a chic, waterfront heritage hotel with magnificent views of Sydney Harbour, the Bridge and beautiful Walsh Bay. Held on the eve of Day 1, Pier One Sydney Harbour will host our one-of-a-kind, ‘Party on the Pier’ designed especially for delegates and guests of rise2018. Showcasing some of New South Wales’ finest food and wine, the Welcome Reception will welcome delegates to the host city, Sydney and provide delegates and guests the first opportunity to meet and network before sessions commence on Friday.


All delegates are welcome to attend this networking breakfast celebrating women in the legal profession. Planar Restaurant is attached to the conference venue and allows delegates to network and socialise before day one of the conference. Networking Breakfast tickets can be purchased separately.

Formal dinner – Friday 16 November 2018 The Cutaway

A unique cultural venue, the Cutaway is an expansive, below-ground concrete space, showcasing the beautiful Sydney basin sandstone. Following the conclusion of Day One, delegates will arrive at the Cutaway forecourt for pre-dinner drinks, followed by a spectacular and entertaining dinner. This is a dinner not to be missed.


Access to the conference

Entry to the business sessions and social functions will be by badge or ticket only. Delegates must have their badge for entry and there will be security checking throughout the venues.


All payments must be received no later than four-weeks’ prior to the Conference. Any unpaid social or conference registration will be cancelled. Registrations, if available, following the registration deadline, must be accompanied by full upfront payment.

Conference Charity Partner

The ABA & NSWBA are delighted to partner with the Aboriginal Legal Services (ALS) for rise2018. Delegates are encouraged to support the ALS as part of their conference registration. Donations over $2 are tax deductible and the ALS will provide tax deductible receipts following the conclusion of the conference.

About the ALS

The ALS is a proud Aboriginal community organisation. It opened its doors in 1970 in Redfern as the first Aboriginal Legal Service in Australia. The ALS does legal work in criminal law, children’s care and protection law and family law. The ALS assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men, women and children through representation in court, advice and information, and referral to further support services.

Conference Cancellation & Refund Details

Registration fee refunds will be available for delegates who are unable to attend after booking, until 5 October 2018, on the following terms:

  • Refunds requested prior to 13 July will be granted less a 10% administration fee.
  • Refunds requested between 14 July and 31 August will be granted less a 20% administration fee.
  • Refunds requested between 1 September and 5 October will be granted less a 30% administration fee.

Applications for a refund after 5 October should be made in writing to Those requests are subject to a 50% administration fee and will only be granted in exceptional circumstances. Conference delegates may substitute delegates. Substitutions will not be coordinated by the conference events team but must be submitted in writing to All refunds will be issued within one month of the conclusion of the event.

In the unlikely event that the conference is cancelled by the organisers, all conference fees will be refunded less a 10% administration fee, to cover costs incurred in the establishment of the event only.

Travel refunds will be managed by Spencer Travel (or your chosen travel agent) and will be subject to refund and cancellation fees as set out in your individual travel terms and conditions provided at the time of booking. The ABA and NSWBA strongly advises all attendees to take out appropriate insurance to cover loss (including registration fees) incurred in the case of cancellation, medical expenses and damage to or loss of personal effects.  The ABA and NSWBA and its organisers are not responsible for any medical costs incurred by participants. The ABA and NSWBA do not accept any liability for personal injuries or for loss or damage or property belonging to conference delegates either during or as a result of attending the conference.
